THE ARTIST EDGE is the website of Trayce Pjirrou (pronounced
trace perro). The last name is derived from French and Swedish with the “J” silent.
Trayce
Pjirrou grew up after the age of 11 in Santa Barbara, California. Trayce attended Santa Barbara City College, UCLA,
Southern Oregon College, and UCSB. He began playing guitar and singing around the age of 5, and, has kept this
musical art in tune since that time, continually developing his musical technique, voice, and compostions.
In
the 1980’s Trayce took on the additional endeavors of being a visual artist specializing in two dimensional graphic
and fine art in various mediums. He has exhibited his work in Santa Barbara, and, Sedona Arizona, and, performed his
music at many venues in many parts of the United States.
Trayce is
a largely self taught Yogi in the Iyengar style. Begining his practice in 1995 as a means of stayng in shape and avoiding
injuring in other physical endeavors. He has practiced extensively and mastered many of the most difficult poses
of the Iyengar style. He has taught yoga at several healing centers in Sedona, Arizona, and, most recently at the Cedar
Springs Renewal Center in Cedro Wooley, Washington, a raw food retreat center/ranch.
Trayce
is also a trained dancer and choreographer. Begining in 1995 in Santa Barbara, he has studied with some of Santa Barbara’s
top jazz and modern dance teachers. He has also studied at Edge in Los Angeles, Steps On Broadway in New York City,
and the Jeanette Neal Dance Studio in Boston, Massachusetts, and, several other studios in various parts of the United States.
Trayce has developed a yoga routine and instructional framework especially for
dancers to assist in injury prevention and healing.
Trayce is also
a nutritional food consultant. He has studied natural nutrition for over 20 years. His goal has always been to
acheive a natural level of energy, health and well being strictly from pure, unprocessed, unadulterated food sources
without the use of any kind of stimulants including caffiene, alchohol, nicotine, or, chemical formulas, (i.e. prescription
or non prescription drugs). His knowledge is of the most substantial kind, not theoretical, but material. He has
used himself as an experimental subject in testing dietary and nutritional programs from many of the most well known figures
in this field. He is continually experimenting and refining his approach to diet and nutrition and maintains a high
level of health due to his accumulated knowledge and experimentation, which he makes available to anyone in need of dietary
and nutritional improvement, through private consultation.
Trayce
can be found frequently in physical activities such as yoga, dance, surfing, bike riding, running, weightlifting, and hiking.
He attributes a high energy level and physical well being to his yoga practice and the dietary practices that he has
developed over his extensive years of research.
Currently
Trayce is researching and investigating sustainable housing and organic food production, and, has recently completed a training
internship in New Mexico at the Earthship Biotechure Community in Taos. He is continuing his practice, begun in 1998,
