Trayce Pjirrou came to be an artist by default. Watching his father draw and paint as a child impressed him tremendously,
as he could draw and paint just about anything without a model. His father explored watercolor, oil painting, wood carving,
and pastels and built a body of work, even though he worked full time to support a large family, and wasn't able to devote
full time to his art until he was retired.
Trayce grew up in an artistic household of painters, musicians,
and writers. His first love was guitar and singing, which to this day he maintains on a semiprofessional level. His interest
in art developed first in assisting his father in the dark room with black and white photography. In the earlier years, Trayce's
interest and energy went into learning photography. It wasn't until his twenties that his frequent gallery and museum visits
began to manifest a desire to be a painter.
Trayce began having exhibits
in galleries in his native Santa Barbara, California, and in his adopted Sedona, Arizona. He has also spent extensive time
on the east coast, painting and taking pictures. He currently has two exhibitions running in Santa Barbara.
Trayce is largely self taught, having had some education in certain artistic processes, he never felt the need, or, desire
to attend art school, having had so much exposure in his earlier years from his father and siblings. He continues to develop
and mature as an artist, most recently taking on sophisticated, and technically difficult compositions inspired by the southwest
and all its unique design, style, and symbolic idiosyncrasies.
